They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law."
Wow! Sound like the words of a narcissist to me.
my family knows that i post on this forum (they have a packet of print outs of topics i have started) and they know about my videos on youtube.. they have made a demand that i cease all internet communication with the apostate community and then they will have me back.. i have refused.. they say i am a narcissist because i am ignoring the feelings of my family because they are very hurt by the things i am doing on the internet and speaking out against the religion.. interesting since they had to search out my posts and videos to gather evidence of apostasy.. -sab.

is the doctrine of hell a hindrance or a help in witnessing?
many evangelicals are ashamed of this biblical doctrine, viewing it as a blemish to be covered up by the cosmetic of divine love.
but this dishonors gods word.
The good news is that is hypothetical discussion. A discussion about myth, legend and mythology. Just entertaining and not life threatening.
Real hell is pub with no beer and I have not yet had the misfortune to find myself in such a desolate and godless place.

According to the bible, death is the penalty for sin and separation from God. Only living people can suffer, so 'god' would have to bring people back to life with the intention of making them suffer in hell.
This would mean he was creating flawed and sinful people just to make them suffer. It would mean that the penalty for sin was not death but a life of suffering at god's hand. A god of love would not be a god of love if he did this.
I don't believe in an individual god that is separate from us and can be reduced or simplified so as to make sense to humans. We are all a part of what is and can never be separated from that. What is, is too vast to comprehend.
According to many religious people, because I do not believe Jesus to be divine, I am already in hell! I can only continue to enjoy being in hell and being a part of life; looking out at the awesome universe from my lowly perspective and feeling empathy for people who live in fear of hell.
hmmm.
either jehovah god (the perfect god) didn't give that information.
it never was the "truth" in the first place..
A man named Charles Taze Russell, known as Pastor Russell, was born in 1852 in Pittsburg, America. He was a sincere man with a keen desire to understand the Bible. In 1879 he began to gather others with the same interest and by 1881 he had formed the original Watchtower Society. This group became known as “The International Bible Students.” It would be many years before they adopted the name “Jehovah's Witnesses.”
This small group who were sometimes referred to as Russellites, started to make predictions regarding the end of the world system. A book entitled “The Time is at Hand” followed in 1891. The title of this book emphasised the weakness that was to become a flaw in the Watchtower Society as the years passed – their obsession with time.
This book declared that Jesus Christ had already begun his presence since 1873 and would return to gather his chosen ones to heaven in 1914. Pastor Russell, along with his followers, expected to be taken to heaven to become part of Christ’s heavenly priesthood and government in 1914. The battle of Armageddon was to follow and bring an end to all religious and political set-ups. This date was arrived at by various calculations and guesswork, designed to prove that the Gentile Times would end in 1914. The Gentile Times being the time period that the non-Jewish nations would dominate the earth for. The following quotes are taken from the above book, series II:
“True it is expecting great things to claim, as we do, that within the coming twenty-six years all present governments will be over thrown and dissolved; but we are living in a special and peculiar time, the “Day of Jehovah,” in which matters culminate quickly; and it is written, “A short work will the Lord make upon the earth.””
“In view of the strong bible evidence concerning the times of the Gentiles, we consider it an established truth that the final end of the Kingdoms of this world and the full establishment of the Kingdom of God will be accomplished near the end of A.D. 1915. Then the prayer of the church, ever since her Lord took his departure – “Thy Kingdom Come” – will be answered; and under that wise and just administration, the whole earth will be filled with the glory of the Lord – with knowledge and righteousness, and peace (Psalms 72:19; Isaiah 6:3; Habakkuk 2:14) and then the will of God shall be done “on earth as it is in Heaven.”” (Pages 98, 99)
“Be not surprised, then when in subsequent chapters we present proofs that the setting up of God’s Kingdom is already begun, that it is pointed out in prophecy as due to begin the “battle of the great day of God Almighty” (Revelation 16:14) which will end in A.D. 1915, with the complete overthrow of earth’s present rulership, is already commenced. The gathering of the armies is plainly visible from the standpoint of God’s word.” (Page 101)

“In the preceding chapters we presented evidence showing that the “Times of the Gentiles” or their lease of domination, will run out with the year A.D. 1914 and at that time they will be overturned and Christ’s Kingdom fully established. That the Lord must be present, and set up his Kingdom, and exercise great power so as to dash the Nations to pieces as a potters vessel, is then clearly fixed.” (Page 170)this is one of the top thought stopping phrases here.. it invalidates any argument presented against the organization.
it basically says this:.
"it doesn't matter who did what in the org, it doesn't matter how bad things get, we are the only ones doing what jesus did, therefore all errors and corruption are disregarded as we await the end.".
I have great respect for literal charities that we have in this world but there are plenty of them but only one that feeds people the accurate biblical spiritual food that they need so badly and they are the Jehovah's witnesses.
Like a drug addict needs a daily fix. Cult mind control as employed by the New York publishing company, has left Jehovah's witnesses addicted to a mind altering organisation. To call it spiritual food is like calling cardboard, steak. Fortunately help is available for these sad, undernourished and deluded people.
at what point do they stop being spiritual food dispensed at the proper time, and start being "apostate .
If they are kept on a shelf in the bathroom - a very short life with a messy end!
i cut and pasted the subject line from a comment made by one of this board's longtime members.
it got me wondering if this is the prevalent thinking in here.
for a very long time i believed that jw's and all fundamentalist christian folk are a cut above the norm.
when i was trying to be a good little JW social climber ... i refused to treat other people in the way i deemed disrespectful and unfair...
You were a nice person while you were a JW and there are other JWs like you.
Every church or organisation has its share of nice people and its share of cretins. In a cult the cretins outnumber the nice people. They have the potential to be nice but are forced to herd together and do as the shepherd commands - or leave the flock.

Most relationships are conditional. This includes relationships in business, at work and with family & friends.
Being accepted as part of the JW brotherhood or sisterhood, is conditional. We each agreed to these conditions when we joined. Later we changed our minds and left. JWs are nice people provided you keep the conditions of the friendship.
Leavingwt - referred to the 'CULT personality that you must contend with...' This is what makes the JWs conditions of any relationship particularly unrealistic. They are not allowed to decide for themselves and amend the conditions as they mature. They must obey! Do as they are directed. This robs many of them of their innate compassion and kindness, particularly towards those who develop doubts about their faith.
mary had to make up a story for why she was pregnent after cheating on joseph and it ended up seriously getting out of hand.. -sab.
The reason that Jesus ended up being such an important figure in history, is that Rome needed a martyr to adopt that would act as a platform for a new religious power base. They succeeded. When the Roman empire collapsed the Vatican held on to its influence. Simple see!
i did not sleep well last night.
i tossed and turned until 4 am .
got up and decided to see what was going on.. i am so disappointed in some of you.. simon posted a thread requesting people not post links to the new shepherding book.
It's a shame you had a poor nights sleep Lady Lee
This business about the way we treat Jehovah's witnesses that come here has bothered me for a while. I have only started 4 threads this year. One of them was:
Is it unacceptable to stand up for Jehovah's Witnesses on a site called Jehovah's-Witness.net?
People were divided on the matter but I like to think they took on board other people's points.
